Remarks I got up a little earlier today and actually left slightly before the sun was up. The temperature was already 70 when I left. The highway I started on today didn't have much for shoulders but the traffic wasn't too bad. As I continued there actually was a pretty good shoulder for the second half of today's trip. I didn't do too much stopping today. I stopped after about 44 miles at a McDonalds in Hardeeville. I also happened to see even cheaper gas here....$1.419. The temperature was already getting uncomfortable around 10:30 this morning when I stopped to get something to drink and something frozen to eat and try to cool down. The road signs were playing tricks on me. At one point in the trip I saw a sign saying Darien was 43 miles down the road...then about 8 miles down the road I saw another sign saying Darien was 43 miles so that wasn't too pleasant of a surprise. The last 30 miles or so were very uncomfortable due to the heat but I finally made it to Darien and stayed at the Fort King George Motel. My back tire was also feeling very low when I got into town so I finally switched and put on a new tire in the back. The old one was completely worn out from days of riding on loose gravel. I can definitely tell I'm in the south now with the heat!
