Comments: I woke up in good time since I went to bed before 7:30. The Weather Channel was forecasting winds of 20-30 MPH again today and the winds were already strong when I started. Luckily, there were a few portions where I was heading west, so I wasn't in the wind all the time. I wanted to take 35L so I could be right next to the coast, but I ended up on 35. It went to the same place in the same distance so it wasn't too big of a deal. The view as I headed toward Corpus Christi was spectacular. Even the major bridge going over the bay had a good shoulder so I didn't have to worry too much. It took me quite a while to get through town and I made a couple of turns which were incorrect. Finally, I did make it through okay and was headed west to meet up to US 77. The heat was really getting to me on this stretch. I think I drank about 100 oz. of pop and water within a 10-mile portion. The road turned south a couple of times and even brought my speed near 6 MPH a couple of times. However, once I got on US 77, the wind didn't seem quite as bad and I was able to go around 10 MPH with little problem. As I got closer to Kingsville, I saw a sign that said: Brownsville 132. Now, I knew I was getting closer. Although I got to Kingsville before 2 PM, I couldn't go on since there would be a stretch of about 60 miles with no services and over 90 with no hotels.
