Comments: It was good to sleep in for a change. Once I woke up, I pretty much assumed I would be at my current location for at least a day since the bike shop may have not been open at all today. Even if it was, it would take a while for them to look at my bike and fix everything. However, I tried some tube patches that I have never got to work before. Much to my surprise, the patch worked and I also figured out what was wrong with my pump. Now I had a tire pumped up to an adequate pressure. As I left, the strong east winds pushed me nicely. I had to go west on US Alt. 90. I was looking for US 59 South. I missed it and kept going on 90. Luckily, I found another road that connected with 59 at a later point, so it wasn't a big deal overall. The winds were great as I continued in a southeast direction. The shoulder was huge for the most part as well. It was a bit rough in some parts, but overall it was excellent. I had to stop for food and liquids quite a bit and was running low toward the end when I found a Texaco. The winds shifted a little later so wasn't quite as beneficial, but definitely helped me more than it slowed me today. I almost forgot how much the wind can speed you along. I only spend a little more than five hours on the road and still got 100 miles. Sometimes it can take up to 9 or 10 hours to do the same distance. When I got to Victoria, I was turned down at the Best Western since I wasn't 21, but the Comfort Inn accepted me. This hotel is much better than last night's! I still can't believe how poor that motel was. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90s, so it looks like the cool spell is over.
