    Comments: I left early again before 6 AM so I could take advantage of some of the coolness of morning. The temperature started in the lower 70s and rose once the sun appeared. I finally had a nice shoulder on US 71 almost the entire way. However, during the city of Waldron, the shoulder was gone for a while. For the most part, I was very pleased with the shoulder width today. It's nice to be able to pay a little more attention to other things than the traffic. I arrived in Mena around noon. I thought I would be staying there today, but I decided to go past. I wasn't sure if this would be such a great idea since the next hotel was another 45 miles, but I decided to go for it. The temperature rose into the 90s during this stretch with a heat index of 104. I stopped several times to get something to drink. Finally, I got to DeQueen a little before 4 PM. The winds were originally forecasted as NW for tomorrow, but has been switched to SW. I still am amazed how this happens all the time!
