Remarks
Today I left with cloudy, cool weather. I passed a sign after about ten miles saying the temperature was 43 degrees. I prayed it would warm up...or at the very least not rain. About 20 miles down the road the rain did start. I thought to myself, "Oh great, here we go again...here's another day with little progress." But the rain did stop. As I went further down the road it would cloud up and rain, then the sun would come out and it would cloud up and rain, the sun would come out, etc, etc, etc. There were three or four times I was thinking severe weather might be headed my way. I'm always paranoid that I'm going to get stuck in the middle of some huge storm. That's about my biggest fear. I just wish I could have a day full of blue skies one of these days. When I got to Palmyra (didn't initially plan on going there but did due to road construction which seems to be everywhere) I did some laundry. This was a good choice as at this time it really started to pour. After that I took off again and the rest of the trip was relatively dry. Initially I planned on staying at Hebron, right across the Illinois border, but the only one I saw went out of business, so I biked another 15 miles south to Woodstock and stayed at the Super 8 there.
