Overall today was an enjoyable ride. Originally I was thinking about staying in Tailem Bend, but there wasn't too much when I got there. Murray Bridge was only about another 15 miles down the road. This part of the trip was one of the more frustrating stretches due to the shoulder, which at this point in the day was non-existent. There were times with lots of traffic and times with very little. I finally got to Murray Bridge, which is a neat little town. I crossed the bridge over the Murray River and then was in the town. I stayed in a Gold Chain motel which is becoming my favorite motel chain over here. I've been very pleased with them every night I've stayed. The town itself seems very well organized and neat. There was a McDonalds which I ate dinner at and a KFC which I ate supper at right down the road. It's interesting here because it seems like KFC is about the only place you can buy a Mountain Dew in Australia. I never seem them in gas stations or groceries stores. I did a little shopping here and bought some fresh clean clothes and some shaving cream and razors to take care of my beard! The weather today was very nice. I found it kind of interesting looking at some of the "grass" as I was walking along today. Some of the grass looks like it is fake plastic grass. It looked overly green....then when I looked closer I noticed that it looked plastic! Again, I rode 99 % of today standing up since it has been too sore for me to try to sit down. My fingers are rather numb on my left hand still and seem to be getting worse.
I set another personal record for miles in one week...these past seven days I put in 1,022.22 miles.
