Scouting the Midway
Step right up folks... for a
chance at some fun! This month is full of fun and games. Each den will
create a midway game to run at the Pack Midway. How about a ring toss, a
beanbag throw, a coin toss, a ball throw, or a card throw? Get those creative
juices flowing. The boys can design and build the
games at their den meetings, and then run their game at the Pack Midway, so
everyone gets in on the fun. What's a midway without prizes? Make sure you
have prizes for all age groups. And don't forget the popcorn!
Better yet – go to Day Camp! This year’s Space Daze Cub Scout Day Camp will feature a Space Odyssey
Family Midway Friday, August 6th after Day Camp hours along with
a “Star” Wars
campfire and “Mad Scientist’s Workshop.”

Campfire Cooking Links
"It is the goal of every Scout Leader to
turn each Scout into a Chef...if for no other reason than to enjoy good
food while camping."1
http://my.tbaytel.net/scouts/campcook.htm
1One accepted method of scheduling Camp Duty is that each Scout in a Patrol cook the meals, on a rotational
basis, for that Patrol and at least one Leader. It is to that end that this
page of links may offer inspiration and some recipes to change a Scout from
a cook into a Chef! It only takes practice (and a food repair kit). A Cub
leader sends the Pack home with the words "Good Hunting". The
Scout Leader goes one step further. He prays "Good Cooking" will
follow the "Good Hunting"!

Good meals prepared and served in the outdoors
are a special treat, and a boost to any activity. Here are recipes
for activities ranging from light-weight backpacking to base and long-term
camps.

What is Leadership without Followship?
“…what is the point of a movement full of leaders? Very few people are
by temperament, training, or inclination suited to be effective leaders. We
should be training young people to be good followers.” To read the rest of this article and
