Remarks
Today started out good. The temperature was in the lower 50s with NO RAIN again! I can get used to this. The shoulder on US 23 was perfect and I hoped it would continue. It was fine until right after I got into Kentucky. Technically, there was still a shoulder but it wasn't very suited for biking because it had continuous rumble strips making for a very unpleasant ride. Therefore, I had to ride in the rough gravel again for a good portion of the trip. Once I got further south on 23 the shoulder reappeared and made for a nice ride. Originally I planned to stay at Paintsville, but didn't see any hotels right along 23 so I just decided to continue down to Prestonsburg.
