Remarks
When I woke up this morning, I looked outside and noticed a little rain so was afraid I wouldn't be able to get anywhere today. However, by the time I made it to Minot the rain died down. The winds weren't too strong at this time. The only thing that was a challenge at this point was getting used to the new bike I was using on this trip. I've never really ridden a bike which is strictly designed as a road bike before. I had always ridden either a mountain bike or a hybrid bike before. The one aspect of the new bike was the seat which was making me extremely sore as the day wore on. I finally made it to Steele after several hours. In addition to getting used to the seat, my left knee was starting to really hurt. I got off my bike and ate at a cafe in Steele right next to I-94. The pain in my knee was really strong especially when I was walking. I was concerned whether I could continue or not the next day. I was initially thinking I might stay in Steele, but I was making pretty good time so I decided to continue on. I ended the day at the Wishek Inn in Wishek, North Dakota. I stopped at the grocery store there to try some FlexAll to see if that would help my knee. It didn't really seem to make much difference though. My girlfriend at the time, Jen, came down tonight to follow me for a couple of days which should be helpful so I don't have to wear my backpack for a while.
